So we’re barely into 2020 and there has already been some amazing films such as 1917, Bombshell and Jojo Rabbit. And by the looks of what is still to come 2020 is looking like a very good year for cinema…

Dolittle

Robert Downey Jr plays the vet Dr. John Dolittle in 19th-century England whose only companionship after his wife dies at sea is that of his exotic animal friends in this adaptation inspired by Hugh Lofting’s The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle.

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

So far the DCEU has failed to make a dent in Marvel’s superhero titan armour with both Suicide Squad and Justice League missing the mark. Here’s hoping that Birds of Prey can deliver where they failed as Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn joins forces with other vigilante’s to protect a young girl in peril.

Mulan

The latest in Disney’s live-action parade sees Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honoured warrior, step in to take her fathers place serving in the Imperial Army by disguising herself as a man.

Black Widow

As if the Marvel timeline wasn’t crazy enough already, we’re going back to just after Captain America: Civil War for Scarlet Johansson’s first, and likely only, solo outing as Black Widow.

Wonder Woman 1984

2017’s Wonder Woman is one of DC’s only hits in their cinematic history so its safe to say Wonder Woman 1984 has a lot to live up to. But between Gal Gadot, original director Patty Jenkins and the potential of an epic 80’s inspired soundtrack, things are looking good so far.

Top Gun: Maverick

A sequel to 1986’s Top Gun probably isn’t needed as the film stands pretty well on its own. but I’d be lying if I said it isn’t wanted.

The King’s Man

Acting as a prequel to director Mathew Vaughn’s Kingsman film series, The King’s Man will be a spy-thriller set around the First World War that sees the formation of the spy agency.

It’s not really a year in cinema without Marvel coming for all your money. The Eternals is set to be Marvel’s 25th film and will be introducing a whole bunch of punchy immortal aliens who protect the human race from from their evil opposites, the Deviants.
